Kaitlyn’s 2024 Statement
I am interested in a career in criminology or medicine. I want to talk with you about the importance of positive relationships between students and teachers and how this impacts academic success.
In my high school experience, I have had both positive and negative encounters with teachers. I want to talk about this because relationships with our teachers impact how students do in school. When I have had positive relationships with my teachers, it helps with my school experience, I have a more positive attitude in class, and it helps me get the most out of school. I have been much more academically successful with teachers who create positive relationships.
Kaitlyn’s 2023 Statement
I am a freshman in high school. I am interested in studying criminal justice. I want to talk about the importance of having safe spaces at school and why schools should treat students as whole people.
This topic is important to me because it’s not easy to turn everything off the moment you walk into a classroom. I’ve had situations where I felt like I was not treated like a whole person because my teachers expected me to put aside everything else that was going on in my life and just come to class ready to learn, but sometimes you can come to school really stressed. Stress can come from a lot of places, like homework, quizzes, deadlines, or things going on in your personal life.
